GOOD MORNING, SINGAPORE!

Move your senses with the sights and sounds of a wet market and watch how locals hunt for the freshest bargain. It’s no mystery why the term ‘wet’ as stall owners use water in the market to wash floors, to keep fruits and vegetables fresh, and to keep fish and shellfish alive. Check out local favourites like century egg, black chicken and wide array of spices. Next, adjourn to Singapore’s largest food centre - Chinatown Complex for a leisurely breakfast. Your day is not complete without visiting a traditional and heritage shop for a supply of herbs, tonic and even pastries for family tea time. End your tour on a sweet note with a sampling of local desserts.

Singapore’s Chinatown comes alive at night!

Chinatown has also come a long way since the early days when Chinese immigrants made this enclave their home. Filled with a sprawling myriad of shops and eateries, bustling with colourful and exciting activities set against a backdrop of rich history and heritage, Chinatown is not to be missed especially in the evening when everything really comes alive. At a Chinese Medical Hall, learn how Traditional Chinese Medicine helps to regulate your Yin and Yang. From ancient days till modern times, the Chinese have continue with herbs and practices like acupuncture, moxibustion, tai chi and tui na to stay healthy.

After dinner at a local Chinese restaurant, wander along the narrow lanes of the Night Market and test your bargaining skills against street vendors selling anything from souvenirs to leather goods. The highlight of the evening is a trishaw ride that takes you through the alleyways of Chinatown and down to Clarke Quay. There hop onto a bumboat for a cruise along the Singapore River to see Singapore lit up at night, showcasing beautifully restored shop houses, modern skyscrapers of the fi nancial district, colonial buildings and the iconic Merlion statue.

Langkawi, Malaysia (Departure from Singapore)

The archipelago of Langkawi sits in the Andaman Sea, close to the Malaysian-Thai border. Pulau Langkawi is the largest island of the archipelago and has some of the most beautiful beaches in Malaysia. The island’s famed aquatic life and its idyllic isolated location mean it is a perfect place to relax in the peace and quiet and enjoy life under the Malaysian sun.

You may prefer to rent a car or motorbike from the ferry terminal in Kuah, on the south coast, to explore Langkawi’s many beautiful tropical beaches. Most of the beaches are situated along the northern and western coasts of the island.

Choose between developed and isolated beaches. Pantai Centang offers amenities including restaurants, pubs and beer gardens, while Pantai Kok is sheltered by mountains and forests. If you want to experience the best of both worlds, visit Datai Beach to experience an age-old forest surrounding five-star resorts, spas and of course the white-sand beach. Explore the azure waters with paddleboats and snorkels, which are available for rent.

Langkawi also offers many magnificent diving opportunities. Join a dive tour and visit underwater coral reefs teeming with wildlife such as lobsters, barracudas and black-tip reef sharks. Just an hour away from Langkawi Island, Pulau Payar Marine Park is one of the more popular dive sites, but many of the beaches are often completely isolated. Rent a sailing boat and explore one of these untouched beaches at your own pace.

The island is also famous for its duty-free shopping and fine dining. Langkawi’s ethnic diversity means that there is a wide variety of foods to choose from. The main settlement of Kuah offers cuisine from all over Asia, including Indian, Thai and Chinese. You can also try a local Malay restaurant or sample some of the delicious local seafood.

There are also many souvenirs and local products for sale in Penang.  Pick up some for your friends back home. Penang has many places of worship. Koh Samui is the leading resort island in the Gulf of Thailand, and it boasts of highly-developed infrastructure. Visitors who are looking forward to something a little more rustic don't have to travel far. The remote interior and outlying islands are beautifully serene.

Most of the scenic sites congregate on the eastern coast of the island within reach of Chaweng and Lamai beaches. Some of these spots can be visited on foot from area resorts, but most require some form of transportation. Hotels and resorts offer island tours that take in most of the major attractions.

One of the more significant landmarks is the playful Hinta Hinyai (Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks), but there are many more marvelous feats of nature including Na Muang Falls or the expansive Ang Thong National Marine Park. The island also offers several gardens and touristy parks of interest to visitors.
